Bristol Groundschool has launched its 2026 Scholarship Programme, offering one aspiring commercial pilot the opportunity to take the next step towards an airline career through a fully funded Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) Distance Learning course.
The scholarship is tagged to the newly launched Jet2NextGen future pilot talent programme, giving the successful candidate a defined pathway towards a career with the UK’s leading leisure airline, subject to successfully completing Jet2’s assessment process.
As the first modular ground school approved to offer this opportunity, Bristol Groundschool continues to strengthen the role of modular training in developing the next generation of airline pilots. The successful applicant will complete Bristol Groundschool’s industry-leading ATPL Distance Learning course before progressing through have a clearly defined pathway towards a career with the UK’s leading leisure airline, provided they meet Jet2’s recruitment standards.
Applicants must hold a valid Private Pilot Licence (PPL) before enrolling on the scholarship programme
The scholarship has been created to recognise a talented and committed individual who demonstrates a genuine passion for aviation, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for Jet2NextGen, candidates must:
- Have the unrestricted right to live and work in the UK.
- Hold a valid UK CAA PPL and valid Class 1 Medical.
- Native English Speaker, or equivalent proficiency (minimum IELTS Academic 5.5, or level 5 as per aviation standards)
- Be able to achieve UK CAA fATPL licence issue within the agreed timescale.
- Demonstrate a commitment to supporting and developing others.
Terms and Conditions
- The scholarships are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- They apply only to the specified Bristol Groundschool theory course and do not include flight training, examination fees, medical certification, travel or accommodation unless explicitly stated.
- Applicants must hold a valid PPL at the time of enrolment.
- Applications must be received by 31 October 2026. Late applications will not be accepted.
- The successful applicant will automatically be invited to take part in the Jet2NextGen assessment process, once they meet the eligibility criteria.
- If the successful applicant is unsuccessful in the Jet2NextGen assessment process, this will only mean that the tagged Jet2NextGen opportunity will no longer be available. It will not affect their Bristol Groundschool ATPL Scholarship, which will continue to be awarded in line with the scholarship terms.
- If the successful applicant successfully completes the Jet2NextGen assessment process, they will be subject to the same conditional job offer terms as candidates who apply directly to Jet2NextGen.
- Successful applicants must confirm acceptance of the scholarship in writing within 14 days of notification and commence their course within six months of the award date unless otherwise agreed.
- Bristol Groundschool reserves the right to amend or withdraw the scholarship programme at any time. The decision of the selection panel is final.
- Personal information submitted as part of the application process will be used for administering the scholarship programme and handled in accordance with applicable data protection legislation. For the ATPL Scholarship, the successful applicant’s personal information will also be shared with Jet2 for the purpose of progressing their invitation to the Jet2NextGen assessment process. Applicants may also choose to provide consent to receive marketing communications from Bristol Groundschool, which can be withdrawn at any time.
- Successful applicants agree that Bristol Groundschool may use photographs, testimonials, feedback and training success stories relating to their scholarship for promotional purposes across its website, social media channels and marketing materials. Applicants who do not wish to participate in publicity should notify Bristol Groundschool in writing.
