Undertaking the ATPLs has been one of the most challenging & yet strangely enjoyable tasks that I have undertaken so far – and this really is no exaggeration. However, Bristol Groundschool could not have made the whole process any easier. I started with BGS part-time in late July 2023 after Tayside Aviation’s collapse. The team at BGS, especially Alex, Gill & Henry, in part with the Wings Alliance, made my fellow students from Tayside Aviation and myself completely at ease with undertaking our learning. The whole process has been fantastic completing all 13 UK CAA exams within about 9 months after really starting and stuck into the material instead of just procrastinating!
The coursework itself is simply outstanding. I looked into other ATPL providers in the traditional in-person learning environment and who used other ATPL learning material, however, they simply do not compare to the interaction you receive from BGS. Studying in your own home can feel daunting sometimes, especially when you get stuck, but being a part of the BGS Facebook Group meant that somebody got back to you very quickly and put your mind at ease when I was stuck or in need of anything. Studying remotely meant that I could work flexibly and take time off too for breaks throughout the year. Through studying, I have met other budding pilots from around the country and made friendships that I know will last into our future Professional careers.
Now being at the other end of the exams, my only real wish is that I had spoken with the Wings Alliance before I handed over any large sum of money to an ATO, and two, that I had believed in myself more and that I could have done the ATPLs without studying in a classroom every day. All in all, if I were to do it again, I would choose to study with BGS every time. Thank you to everyone at BGS who got me across the finish line.
