I was fortunate to be awarded a British Women Pilots’ Association scholarship sponsored by BGS, which covered half the cost of the ATPL(A) distance learning course.
Balancing full-time work alongside my studies was challenging, particularly with a few unexpected life events along the way. However, my role as an aircraft engineer allowed me to physically work with systems and avionics, which greatly supported my understanding of the material.
The Video Library was an invaluable resource, especially in the lead-up to exams, helping to reinforce key formulas and the most efficient approaches to multistage calculations. The instructors were consistently supportive, encouraging questions and responding quickly to emails when further clarification was needed. Their varied career backgrounds and real-world experience brought the subjects to life and helped demonstrate how the knowledge applies in practice.
Having the ATPdigital App accessible via an iPad made studying on the go incredibly convenient, and I took full advantage of this. The computer-based training was also great for planning my studies, helping me set target dates for each module and monitor my progress day by day.
I made the most of my time with BGS and have since utilised Wings Alliance, which has provided ongoing support as I work towards completing my flight training.
