Bristol Groundschool is proud to announce that its founder and Managing Director, Alex Whittingham, has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), one of the highest professional recognitions in the global aerospace community.

Election to Fellowship is reserved for individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the aerospace industry or to the advancement of aeronautical knowledge and represents a significant professional honour.

Alex Whittingham founded Bristol Groundschool in 1992, pioneering computer-based training for professional pilot theory courses and helping to set new standards in aviation education worldwide. Under his leadership, Bristol Groundschool has become one of the world’s leading providers of EASA and UK CAA ATPL theoretical knowledge training, supporting thousands of pilots in their careers.

Speaking on his election, Alex said:

“It is a tremendous honour to be recognised by the Royal Aeronautical Society. I’ve been fortunate to work with many talented people over the years who share my passion for aviation education and safety. This recognition reflects not just my own journey, but the collective achievements of everyone at Bristol Groundschool.”

The Royal Aeronautical Society, established in 1866, is the world’s only professional body dedicated to the aerospace community. Fellowship is its highest grade of membership and is awarded following peer nomination and rigorous assessment.

Bristol Groundschool congratulates Alex on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to continuing his mission of advancing aviation training and safety.
